![]() ![]() What's attractive about the sales pitch may in the end just be marketing vapor that will simply evaporate. Given how far the Su-57 production schedule has slipped, the prospect that the Su-75 will be available for foreign customers by 2025 also seems like more marketing hype. ![]() It is difficult to imagine that the Su-57 production problems aren't going to require major investments, and that inevitably will drive up the price for Checkmate, too. ![]() Russian and Sukhoi marketers also say that Checkmate will be the cheapest 5th-generation fighter aircraft on the international arms market. Without that, it's far-fetched to call this a 5th-generation aircraft. It may not have stealth capability at all: An analysis of Russian official media stories and Rostec press releases about Checkmate do not mention stealth technology. Western sanctions have also impeded the Russian aerospace and defense industry's ability to get certain technologies essential to mass-produce its own advanced combat sensors with microprocessor subsystems. Sukhoi also claims that Checkmate is a 5th-generation aircraft, but there are questions as to whether it will have advanced avionics and effective stealth capability. Can countries realistically expect that Sukhoi will do better with the Checkmate? ![]() The new engine planned for the Su-57 is not slated for production until mid-decade, if then. The first operational Su-57 will be equipped with the Saturn AL-41F1 low by-pass turbofan combat engine-the same engine that powers the Su-35, a heavy fighter-bomber designed in the 1980s. Russia has struggled to produce new jet engine models for several years because of sanctions and export restrictions imposed after it annexed Crimea in 2014. The Su-57 has been in development nearly 15 years already, and Western analysts estimate that it still won't be operational before 2027. But the Su-57 has been in development nearly 15 years already, and Western analysts estimate that it still won't be operational before 2027. A key assumption, though, is that the investment in the Su-57 can jump-start the Checkmate program. Russian aerospace industrial leaders claim that the Checkmate can be rapidly developed, mass-produced, and made available to foreign buyers later in this decade. But there are other reasons for buyers to beware, starting with the difficulty Sukhoi is having delivering its predecessor aircraft, the Su-57. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov claims there is “an anchor customer” without naming it, but said it will be marketed to African nations, Vietnam, and India.ĭiplomatic pressure from the United States and the prospect of sanctions have led several countries considering Russian-built weapons to shop elsewhere, as our recent study for RAND reported. Rostec, Russia's government arms production organization, is marketing it to any country that will listen to its pitch. No fragrance, however, will mask how the Su-75 isn't a light tactical fighter as advertised, but rather a medium-weight fighter-bomber similar to the F-16V.ĭuring a Moscow air show last summer, Russia rolled out a mockup of the Su-75, a multipurpose fighter-bomber designed to compete in the global marketplace-but only if it gets enough foreign orders to fund its manufacture. To hype their Su-75 “Checkmate” aircraft last month at the Dubai Air Show, officials from Russia's Sukhoi Design Bureau offered up bottles of a limited-edition Checkmate perfume. ![]()

The most common size impact wrenches are ½-inch drive models-those with a square anvil measuring ½ x ½-inch, that accepts ½-inch sockets. And high RPM help drive nuts or bolts faster, while IPM kick in harder as the resistance increases. Impacts per minute (IPM) increase as revolutions per minute (RPM) increase. Generally, 18-volt tools with advanced features and capabilities make them more versatile and easier to use.Īmp hours (Ah) equals the number of amps that the battery will discharge, continuously, for an hour. Tools with 18 and 20 volts have less difference between them. This makes them good for smaller jobs, working overhead, or getting into tight spaces. ![]() With smaller batteries, 12-volt impact wrenches are more compact. Batteries: Volts and Amp Hours (Ah)Īll things being equal, higher voltage will give you more power-but there are cases for lower voltage. As a result, the twisting motion-known as reactionary torque-that you feel when using an electric drill is virtually eliminated. ![]() Fortunately, impact wrenches are extremely comfortable to use because the concussive blows smoothly transfer most of that high-energy torque directly to the fastener, not to your hand, wrist, or arm. However, all that brute strength isn’t very useful if you can’t control the tool. By comparison, cordless impact wrenches can easily produce torque outputs of over 250 foot-pounds, which is more than enough muscle to power-drive the fattest lags and bust loose rusty, corroded nuts. For example, most cordless drill/drivers produce about 50 foot-pounds of torque, and the average impact driver delivers about 125 foot-pounds. It employs both rotational force (torque) and short-burst concussive blows (impacts) to deliver an unparalleled amount of power. Unlike cordless drill/drivers and impact drivers, which excel at drilling holes and driving screws, the impact wrench is specially designed for tightening and loosening various hex-head bolts, nuts, and lag screws. So while there’s no known survey suggesting that the majority of bubble tea lovers prefer black boba over white boba, it’s safe to say that the sweetness of black bobas is one of the reasons why people love them so much.Tapioca pearls, or boba, are translucent and sweet pops of goodness that give drinks and desserts an extra chewy bite. Beauchamp, many people (and even animals) are attracted to sweet taste. The black bobas’ dark hue are a striking contrast to the tea’s colors, making the pearls more visible and making the tea’s color pop up-especially on Instagram.īut hey! That is not to say people only want black bobas for their looks!Īs you may remember, black bobas are sweeter than neutral-tasting white bobas. However, as you might have noticed, black bobas are more aesthetically appealing as tea add-ons compared to white bobas. For example, they are in tiny pearl forms used in a pudding called sago gula melaka in Malaysia, and are added to sweet drinks like sago-gulaman and taho in the Philippines. In fact, they are used in a lot of desserts in Southeast Asia. To be fair, white pearls are quite popular too. Why does black boba seem to be more popular that white? White pearls have a neutral taste and chewy texture, while black pearls are much sweeter and are a little bit stickier because of the added sugar-which is, again, the reason why black bobas are black. ![]() What’s the difference between black and white boba?Īs mentioned, white bobas are tapioca pearls made of starch and water (and sometimes with camomile extract, depending on the maker) while black bobas are made of starch, water, and brown sugar or caramel.Īside from their color difference, the two bobas also differ in taste. After that, they are cut into small (typically white) spheres that look like, of course, pearls. ![]() The starch is mixed and kneaded with water until they look like dough. Now, you might be wondering “If it’s made of cassava, they why are the pearls not called cassava pearls?” Well, that’s because of two things: one, cassava is called tapioca in some countries and two, tapioca is also the moniker for the starch extracted from the storage root of the cassava. Cassava is a root crop that are usually found and grown in tropical and subtropical places like Taiwan, where bubble tea was born. Some bobas in their basic form are white or clear because of what they are made of.īoba or tapioca pearls are made from cassava root, which makes them naturally white. Black bobas are initially brown and stonelike, but turn into a darker shade once cooked or boiled, resulting in smooth, chewy, black pearls.Īnd actually, not all bobas are black. The dark hue of the black bobas in your beloved bubble tea is a result of the molasses in the brown sugar, an ingredient in the tapioca pearls. There’s actually a sweet reason why boba is black-literally. ![]() ![]() ![]() We can then hope they'll waste enough time looking for the clear on a small garbage block, and eventually die. We can send garbage as soon as the opponent raises their stack, as this resets their stop time to the default. Doing chains and combos extends the stop time. Stop time does not count down when blocks are clearing, or when the screen is shaking from falling garbage. Stop time is an invisible timer that counts down when the screen is full of garbage. ![]() In these instances, we can send the garbage as soon as the opponent raises their stack and go for the stop time kill. The first half AI cursor speed is not as insanely fast as the second half, and won't as often give us the opening for the traditional quick kill. You can see this executed perfectly on many stages, but clutchly on the final two stages, Gary 2 and Mewtwo.Īnother strategy we can use is go for the stop time kill. The best speedrunners are able to monitor the opponent's screen while they're chaining, and then drop their chain when they see an opening. This makes it more unlikely they won't have a clear on the small garbage block, and they'll die. Ideally, we want to send this garbage when the AI leaves an opening on either side of their screen, ideally with only one or two rows of blocks. This will send a side-by-side pattern of two garbage blocks, with the larger chain garbage on top. In order to get a garbage block to fall to the bottom, we start out a chain with a four combo, then get another four combo in that chain. If they cannot find a clear, their cursor will spaz out until they die. The computer is programmed to go for a clear on the lowest garbage block. However, speedrunners use an AI exploit in an attempt to quick-kill the opponents in under 30 seconds. In a casual playthrough, individual stages can last minutes. The AI's cursor speed is so fast that they'll basically always get to a clear on the garbage block you basically have to grind it out and hope that the opponent eventually makes a mistake. The Super Hard category is the most difficult, and extremely frustrating to casual players. This can happen for as long as you have blocks to sustain the chain. Combos are when you match four or more blocks in a row, and chains are when blocks clear, fall, and clear again. If the opponent is topped off by garbage long enough, they die. The way you win is by performing chain and combos to send garbage blocks to your opponents.
